Coca-Cola Advert Analysis

This is a Coca-Cola soft drink advert in the Dailymail UK newspaper. The advert is in black and white and entails a drawing of a man dressed in an apron talking to a woman and the woman holding a bottle of Coca-Cola and a piece of paper on the other hand. The advert contains a picture of bottle of Coca-Cola on the left. Adjacent to the Coca-Cola bottle is a logo of Coca-Cola. On top of the advert is the slogan written “Refresh yourself while shopping”. In the bottom right, is descriptive information. The company information is place at the bottom of the advert between the logo and descriptive information.

In this advert, the Coca-Cola bottle stands out of the advert. I see it first because it is catchy and has been designed to cover a large part of the advert. Its dark color as well attracts the eye first. The descriptive information and the company information are subtly included in the advert. Written in tiny fonts that are hard to read and as well place at the bottom of the advert covering the smallest part of the advert.

The advert seems to target the general family and couples as its audiences. The image of a man and a woman having a chat suggests that this is a best drink for the couples. However, this advert was published through electronic media; the Dailymail online newspaper whereby its audience are adults. This advert has used sentimental appeals to persuade its target audience to purchase Coca-Cola by creating a sense of love and mutual affection that is associated by Coca-Coca drink when they suggest that its audience should take it home for the family. These appeals are the major part of the advert since they are visible and take a wide part of the advert. It has used ethos to appeal to the authority by indicating the drink is bottled under authority of the Coca-Cola Company, Sydney, by WESTERN BOTTLING CO. Pty, Ltd. Perth. The logo is incorporated in the ad and place at a strategic to be clearly visible for the audience.

In the advert, the picture seems to be doing the talking. The picture of the man and woman talking while drinking Coca-Cola seems to be more persuasive and sells the product. The company has used the real image to sell the product. The real images are used to gain trust from it audience as they find the actual product when they go to purchase it. The company has used a decent and friendly language to catch the audience attention. The image of the man and woman symbolizes love and unity and the establishment of the family units upon those values. Coca-Cola brand itself as a widely accept product in the market.

The advertisement strategy was effective because it encompassed and touched on an existing societal setting. The company has branded itself as a well-established company and used the actual images of its product to win the audience trust.
