Fashion associated with some cultures tends to go wrong. Instead of looking good in these fashions, the users end up being victims of these fashions since such fashions harm them. For instance in Chinese culture they have a fashion referred to as Chinese Lotus feet. This is a custom that involves application of tight binding on young girls’ feet so as to size and shape their feet (Fashion Victims, Slide 2). As a result, it limits their movement and causes long-term disability to them. African Lip Plates is another African fashion which entailed cutting of the lower lip of a girl either by her mother or anther women upon reaching 15 to 16 years old. The girls actually inserted plates of about 12 centimeters in diameter (Fashion Victims, Slide 6). This was painful experience for the victims. This is practiced by Mursi, Tirma and Chai tribes are the African tribes who still practice it.
The African heavy brass anklets are another African fashion which Wodabe women wear. They were so heavy yet young women are force to wear two of them (Fashion Victims, Slide 9). This can result in consequential harm to the victims. Europe corset fashion is practiced in Europe using it to change their body shape and appearance. This fashion puts pressure on the women’s ribs and can cause health defects (Fashion Victims, Slide 11). Another fashion is the stiff collars, designed for men so that they did not have to change their shirts on a daily basis. This fashion was to tight cutting of the blood flow into the carotid artery (Fashion Victims, Slide 14). It actually suffocated them. High heels are another common fashion for women. They are shoes worn by women currently which are high and those who wear it are likely to develop should pain, lower back pain and neck pain since the shoes disrupts the natural body structure (Fashion Victims, Slide 16).
